- Use a steel tape measure for best accuracy.
- Measure to the nearest 1/8'' - don't round your measurements.
- Before taking any measurements, step back from your window and decide if you want to mount the window treatment inside the window recess, or outside on the wall.
- Choose the inside mount to: Give your window a clean and simple look, or highlight attractive window moldings.
- Choose the outside mount to: Minimize light gaps and offer more privacy, make your window appear larger, and hide windows that are crooked or unattractive.
- Your window needs to be deep enough for an inside mount. For shades width narrower than 47'', the minimum depth is 1 ⅞''. For shades wider than 47'' (include 47''), the minimum depth is 2 ⅞’’.
